Alongside panel discussions on industry developments, the convention will celebrate outstanding players with an awards ceremony and also provide a platform for brands to exhibit, connect and further business discussions.
While the Covid-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down, the restaurant industry has emerged as one of the worst affected. First came the dreaded lockdown, which forced restaurants to shut down for almost six months. Then, with new safety and hygiene restrictions and strict pandemic protocol in place, capacities were reduced, making the path to recovery even more difficult than it already was.
From small, standalone establishments to pan-India chains, all were affected, along with the enormous number of human resources that the industry employs. While some had to shut shop permanently, others managed to resume business and even restore it to pre-pandemic levels. There are stories aplenty, heart-breaking as well as encouraging. In the midst of the devastation unique innovations were witnessed across the industry. It is these developments, involving restaurateurs, chefs, developers, suppliers and associated services that the Food Connoisseurs India Convention (FCIC) 2021 will address.
Organised by Industry Live and supported by the National Restaurants Association of India, FCIC will be the country’s first-ever virtual F&B Convention. Alongside the conference, which will have industry experts debate and discuss various topics across sessions, there will also be keynote sessions, a virtual exhibition platform, a B2B meeting room and the Food Connoisseurs India Awards.

A total of six different sessions will have discussions on various topics such as ‘Restaurants of tomorrow: What’s on the menu for food business in 2021 and beyond’, ‘Recouping revenue: How restaurants owners are bringing their business back’, ‘Tech-talk: Promoting cashless dining and payment’, ‘Innovations in food and beverages’ and ‘Influencers Transforming the Food Industry’.
The discussions will be followed by the awards which will recognise restaurants that have made remarkable strides during the critical last year. The recognition spans 90 categories. A vastly experienced jury panel comprising Padma Shri MasterChef Sanjeev Kapoor; Founder and MD of Massive Restaurants, Zorawar Kalra; Chef Saby; Chef Abhijit Saha; Chef Koushik S and author and food critic Ameeta Agnihotri, will adjudge winners across 90 categories.
The FCIC 2021 will be an event with enormous scope for restaurants and associated industries. Alongside discussions on developments in the industry and felicitation of players, it will also be a platform for brands to promote, connect and share knowledge.
